Company Spotlight: The Hudson Cakery

Thursday, October 3, 2013

We are working hard over here to develop a regular blog schedule so we can share some of our favorite people, companies, events, tips, DIY projects and more with all of you on a more consistent basis. Going forward, Thursdays will be devoted to highlighting the work of companies we know, love, and trust.

Starting us out on this new venture is Jen from The Hudson Cakery. Not only are her cakes and sweets delicious, but Jen is a talented and hardworking business woman who has become successful because of her courage to commit herself to her passion. Oh and we cheered together in high school {yes, I was a cheerleader, I know it is hard to believe} and well cheer buds always stick together.

More on Jen...
Head Chef & Owner, Jennifer Bunce, has loved baking (and eating!) desserts, especially cake, since she was a child. However, only semi-recently did she turn her passion into a full time business. Post-college, she found success in Event Planning and Public Relations. But after 5 years of the corporate grind, she knew she had to find a “sweeter” way of living. She decided to turn her hobby of baking and cake decorating into a career so she attended the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC in 2008.
After graduating with high honors in Pastry Arts, she interned with famed bakery, Confetti Cakes with Elisa Strauss as well as other notable cake designers in Manhattan. After a short stint as a restaurant pastry chef in the West Village, Jenn knew her future was in designing cakes. She created her own website and in May of 2009, The Hudson Cakery was created. But her big break came in January 2011 when she was interviewed by The New York Times for an editorial feature on cake designers. After word got out about Jennifer's delicious creations, the shop then expanded to Weehawken, NJ in late 2011.

The Hudson Cakery ™ has been featured in The New York Times, NJ Brides Magazine, The Knot Magazine, NJ Bride Magazine, NJ Contemporary Bride Magazine, Palisades Magazine, Wedding Nouveau Magazine, 201 Bride Magazine, 201 Family Magazine as well as various online resources likeWeddingWire.com, The Knot.com, Style Me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes, Wedding Chicks, Yes Bride, Project Wedding, The Cake Blog and more. It was also the The Knot Best of Weddings 2011 – 2013 Pick as well as the WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Awards™ 2010 – 2013!

In addition to their homemade dessert-style cakes they are also excited to launch a French Macaron line and gift tower sets for the holidays. Call them today. Your sweet tooth will thank you!
