A rustic baby shower with Lulu's Inspirations. . .by Karma Flowers

Back in early December, Karma Flowers had the pleasure of working with Lulu's Inspirations, a full service event design and planning boutique located in Northern New Jersey servicing the greater tri-state area. Our mission was to transform a very quaint, rustic, masculine room into the perfect baby shower setting. The room, below ground in NYC restaurant Southern Hospitality, boasts wood panelling (in the clique, modern way), plaid and leather wing back chairs and sofas, and wine barrel accents. It is the quintessential whiskey-tasting room, and the perfect challenge for two designers (Kim and myself) who LOVE to embrace the vintage touches. Who says a baby shower has to be dainty and pink and blue? Check out how we combined textures, colors, and an androgynous feel to this baby shower.

Kim had the great idea of covering glass vases with the pages from children's books and we filled them with mums, eucalyptus and berries.

We also used large silver and black lanterns and mason jars as the flower vessels. The lanterns were a perfect juxtaposition to the more feminine flowers that we filled them with in shades of white, blush and red.

Cabbage rosettes and white hydrangea stole the show in these pieces- not your typical baby shower flowers!

We love the way the flowers work together to form the perfect rustic-y centerpieces and the fluorescent lights in the background are perfection.

Kim also included some fun elements to the shower like a photo guest scrapbook and baby bottle favors. And the cake. . .whoa the cake. It was gorgeous! Check out Lulu's of Inspiration's Facebook page for more pics of the event.

Look for an upcoming guest blog post by our friend Kim from Lulu's Inspirations and enjoy!
