A Rustic, Bridal Photo Shoot with Sara Wight Photography

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

A rustic, deconstructed church was our inspiration for this fall shoot back in October and I am going to let the photography of Sara Wight Photography do the talking...

A special thanks to all of the amazing artists that were involved in creating this beautiful day and to Meredith, our stunning bride, and Fallon, our beautiful Flower Girl...

It's Not Too Late! Last Minute DIY Valentine Ideas & Our Favorite Printable Template

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Karma Flowers paired up with Kanibal Home this year for a Valentine's Day Pop-Up Shop and I make no promises but if you head over there early enough today you may still be able to purchase one of our two original arrangements.

But if getting your hands on a Karma Flowers bouquet isn't in the cards today and you are sitting at work thinking crap! Why do I always wait to until the last minute for these things? Don't worry, there still is hope for you. Run to your nearest grocery store or bodega and "borrow" some supplies from your work supply closet and you are all set. How easy is this little gem to pull off...

And it doesn't have to be for kids. Grab some simple brown paper bags and some markers and go to town. You can fill them with candy or love notes...the possibilities are endless.

You are welcome. Oh and more thing fellas. If you failed on all accounts this year and HAVE to buy grocery store flowers, take them out of the plastic wrapper, purchase fun wrapping paper and re-wrap them. Trust me. Presentation is everything!

A 40th Birthday in Brooklyn, Jalopy Theater

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

At the beginning of December we were asked to help out with a pretty cool 40th Birthday Party at the Jalopy Theater in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Jon's wife, Cindy, invited 90 of his closest friends to come and celebrate Jon in a very personal way...his bands from high school and college reunited to preform for the fist time in years and Jon even joined them. There were other acts including a banjo performance and a poem reading, and it was a beautiful tribute to a man that obviously is very much loved and adored by his friends and family.

Cindy asked us to create the signature drink station which we did using our oak barrel table and vintage vessels. It functioned as a Bourbon tasting station and Prosecco-making headquarters for the night. Cindy also asked us to do something creative with Jon's old band posters which were blown-up and hung in creative art displays on the brick walls and accented with string lights.  Rather than a traditional cake, doughnuts from Doughboy Bake Shop in Brooklyn hit the spot at the end of the night! I think I ended up eating three of them. {That is all I have to say about that.} We used a few of our smaller tables and serving materials to create the dessert station and all was accented by the always-appropriate-at-a-Brooklyn-party over-sized number balloons and the creepy statue provided by the Jalopy Theater. That's a party folks. And a fun one at that!

The Jalopy Theater has done a ton in the way of supporting Red Hook and helping it get back on its feet after Hurricane Sandy. If you are in the area, please support this wonderful theater/bar/restaurant that has done so much for its community. These businesses deserve the patronage.

And thank you Joe for the pics!

Real Wedding. Elizabeth and Keith, October 2012, Pearl S. Buck Estate

Saturday, February 2, 2013

It's feels so new. New year, new blog, new weddings and projects to share with all of you. It is hard to contain it all! I thought we should celebrate the blog makeover with one of our most favorite weddings of last year...

On an unseasonably warm October day Elizabeth and Keith tied the knot with family, friends and the most wonderful color palette. Their vows, dance party and details were perfectly captured by the marvelous Dana of DHM Photography {we love that our paths keep crossing}.

We were introduced to the Pearl S. Buck Estate and all of its glory and truly fell hard for this wedding. We loved the non-traditional take on the fall colors with the lighter blush and peach tones juxaposed with the striped navy ribbon, the white pumpkins and the Southern touches like the raw cotton and the style of the bridal gown. {Oh and you can't miss Elizabeth's gorgeous smile.}
