Old Meets New: Feature on The Wedding Chicks with Julie Paisley Photography

The Wedding Chicks have been giving us so much love lately, we thought it was about time we share a styled shoot they featured of ours a while back. We had the privilege of designing florals and rentals for a Julie Paisley Photography workshop in South Jersey. The red, purple, and yellow fall palette was so refreshing and the hanging sweetheart table our very own Dave made is divine!

Real Wedding: Marianne and Michael, Perona Farms (Andover, NJ), Kay English Photography

Marianne and Michael got married on crisp fall day last October at Perona Farms (Andover, NJ) I met with Marianne, a wedding photographer, and her sweet mom a few months before their wedding to talk about the overall feel of the day and the sentiment the couple wished to express through the decor. They wanted to stay true to the wildflower, rustic aesthetic {as evidenced by the super cool cowboy boots} but with a pop of bright color. We chose dahlias, roses, asters, astilbe, peppers, lavender and dusty miller for the bouquets, bouts, and centerpieces. We adore the way the colors played such a dramatic role in the day {especially against the gray sky}and the hand-picked feel the arrangements stayed true to. A Celebration for a New Senator...Dinner Party at Michael Anthony's in Jersey City

On October 16, 2013 former Newark Mayor, Cory Booker, won the special election and Senate seat for the State of New Jersey. His friend, talk-show host and Oprah's BFF, Gayle King, honored Senator Booker with a lovely dinner at Micheal Anthony's restaurant in Jersey City, NJ. Karma Flowers was called in days before to design and make the final arrangements for this star-studded celebration. 

Simplicity was key to this design so we decided on a classic pintuck linen and walnut Bentwood chair. We chose stems and greens in muted purples, grays, and ivory for the arrangements and accented the flowers with small hurricane oil lamps and amber votives. The beautiful menus and place cards {not pictured} were designed by Meghan of MLShaughnessy Designs and Jennifer from Cyrience Creative Studios was kind enough to run over and snap these gorgeous shots for us before the guest of honor arrived.

Sometimes in this business we are lucky enough to have clients that have brilliant visions AND the ability to fully surrender their concepts to our creative minds and busy hands. What you will get in the end is an aesthetic, a vision we have helped shape and construct, and therefore one we, as designers and stylists, can fully sink our teeth into. This was exactly the case with Amber and Jeremy. 

We were introduced to this couple through the groom's sister, a designer and extremely popular blogger. We knew this one would be good because talent and ingenuity is in abundance on both sides, but we could have only dreamed that this garden wedding would have come together in the magical way that did that beautiful day in June.
