How to Use Vintage Pieces in Your Outdoor Event

Thursday, May 23, 2013

Making an event unique is all about the little details.  Everything from velvet sofas to wicker chairs and mason jars to dishes can be combined to create a custom look for your event.

With the summer months ahead, event planners take advantage of the warmth and schedule their events to take place outdoors.  Some of the most beautifully unique events are those that bring the indoors out.

Incorporating vintage furniture warms up the outdoor space and creates a cozy feel.  Furniture also provides functionality for the space.  Outdoor spaces are beautiful, and added vintage pieces make the serenity of nature that much more comfortable.

One of the easiest ways to incorporate vintage furniture into your creative vision is with seating.  Instead of using typical white wooden chairs around your dining tables, consider using a wicker bench or aqua colored wooden chairs.  If it’s a wedding that you’re planning, consider using vintage church pews for guests to sit in during your outdoor ceremony.  Their worn edges will add a sense of charm to your special day.

Among the bigger furniture pieces are the smaller vintage details that can be used to highlight your personality.  Think about using vintage trunks to display photos in vintage frames of you and your fiancé traveling during your dating years.  Display an assortment of vases and multicolor jars with floral arrangements to add punches of color throughout the space.

The combinations are endless.  Any creative vision can be successfully achieved with the right pieces and accents.

Trunk Vintage Rentals has an expansive inventory with furniture and accessories to make your vision come alive.  Please see our virtual portfolio for a better idea of what we have.  As we continue to add to our collection, we look forward to the many weddings we will be working on this summer.  Keep checking the site for updates and design inspiration!

New Wedding Trend on the Horizon? Designing with Copper

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

My new obsession is copper. Last year we posted about mercury glass replacing the mason jar {as far as vessels go} in the event world. My hope this year is that copper makes a good run against the mercury glass.

Why? For one, we almost always encourage our clients to include a metallic into their design elements. They sort of ground the space with their density, almost always evoke a feeling of nostalgia, and add texture to what could otherwise feel like a very flat palette. Gold, silver, and brass are the obvious metallics but lately I have been drawn to the notion of giving copper a whirl. It is bright and cheerful in a very masculine way to me. It's androgynous and I like it.

This is the picture that originally peaked my copper interest. And I love that it is so accessible today with copper accent pieces popping up on many of the flash sale and design websites.

Style Me Pretty

In home, fashion, and jewelry design...

Lingerie, Flatware, Dress, Light Fixture, Candle, Copper Hair, Mugs, Chairs, Tape

How does this trend translate to timeless wedding and event decor? I have selected some of my favorite examples...
Tea Kettle, Bath Tub, Wild Flower BouquetTopiary , Rose Bouquet

And if you aren't jumping on my copper band wagon just yet, check out this adorable copper DIY project from Poppytalk. It's a great way to get your copper toes wet, so to speak.
